Introduction
Remote Desktop shortcuts are used to quickly connect to application and terminal servers from a simple desktop shortcut. These instructions include creating a Remote Desktop shortcut, and connecting to a server using one.
Procedure
- Right-click on the Desktop, then select New >
If you have open windows, you can press the Windows + D keys on your keyboard to go to the Desktop. Pressing the Windows + D keys again will restore your windows.
- Click Shortcut
- In the text box, type the following text followed by the DNS name or IP address of the computer you would like to connect to.
mstsc.exe /v:
- Click Next
- Type in a name for the shortcut. This is the text you will see under the bookmark on your Desktop.
- Click Finish
Connecting
To connect to Remote Desktop, double-click on the shortcut you've created.
You may be asked if you trust this remote connection. If you do, it may be helpful to check Don't ask me again for connection to this computer
